Pay It Forward
What do you do when you miss someone? What do you do when someone you love chooses a life that you can't follow? How do you mend your heart afterwards? Do you block them? Delete them?
I spoke with a man today, an ex-husband, a faith filled servant, and a good father down on his luck due to a woman he thought was the one. He confided words of truth to me about his children and how he'll never show them the wrong way to handle a situation like his. He said to me, "it sucks to hear my kids have to raise themselves because their mother rather party." He told me about the woman he still loves and how she's a beautiful person that just gave in to the darkness. He cried because he just wanted to help her but he knew that he couldn't help someone who didn't want the help.
I thought about her and then I thought about who I love. This life of freedom that I live, that we live, it is a tough one. We go against a current that was designed by man not by our Creator. It's okay to stand out and stand up for a life led by God. My grandmother told me, "baby, you've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything."
The man heard the pain in my response, I gave him encouragement, and he asked for my name. He said, "I've got this job now where every morning a group of us get together in a circle and pray. I'm going to put your name in our prayer. You didn't have to waste your time talking to me but instead you decided to pay it forward. I wish you the best as you move forward."And here I am in tears on my lunch break because even though I miss the one I love, I move forward.
How do you continue going forward when the one you love isn't by your side? How do you deal with the pain? You take that same desire you had for them and continue sharing your light with this world.
We have these expectations of perfection when God is trying to exceed them. Let Him. And pay it forward.
