A Balancing Act
Hello Beautiful One,
Today I thought a lot about balance. Life is far from perfect and I believe that I am finally beginning to accept this. That doesn't mean I haven't tried to make it all perfect. I get lost in my imaginings of a life without trials and a world (my own little space) without chaos. I have a lot of freedom lately to think about the type of person I have always wanted to be. I've even started taking steps to step into that reality so much so that I've started taking a look at all areas of my life.
You've read me talk about routines and of every aspect of my life being met with intentinality, but I don't think I truly understood what that meant. Last Tuesday, I talked about the flow and now the flow has made me wonder where else I can achieve this. Isn't that funny? I have been looking at the areas of life that are available to me right now. I have been so focused on what better looks like in these areas instead of just getting my hands dirty. These areas are like seeds gifted to us by God. We can clearly see the potential of them because they come so beautifully labeled by our ambition, but we forget what it takes to raise a plant.
In my flow I have managed to inhabit this wonderful morning ritual that I never thought I would be able to do everyday and now I'm looking to the other seeds of my life. For a while, I believed what my family used to tell me: that no matter how hard you try, something will be off, but that's not true. Not if you open your mind to the good and the bad. You see, bad isn't bad, it's life's way of shifting our perspective so if the scales are unbalanced we take notice and correct it. A challenge isn't a challenge because it's hard, a challenge is a challenge because it forces our character to shift past the potential we have always had.
When's the last time you took a look at every area of your life? We can be so focused on what we consider is the "good" area, that we neglect what we percieve is bad. What if it's just out of balance and requires a change of character? These areas, these seeds need as much protection as the other. Good soil, good water, good sunlight, good protection from the elements, and most of all a lot of love. It's all just (I love this part in movies when they say the title in the movie) a balancing act and with enough effort it can be achieved. I love you so much and I believe in you!
I want you to keep your head up, be encouraged, and know that you are loved. You are a member of the Free World: a world without shame, without fear, a world where being who YOU are is expected. Be patient with yourself because everything is a process. Remember life is a marathon not a sprint. You'll make it through this week!
Be your best self,
G.E.M. Stone
