I Have Money Problems

Hello again Beautiful One,

I'm sick of having to make up an excuse to not go out. I look at the blank walls of my room and my mismatched bathroom decor and think, "ugh, if I only had blah blah blah." I have money problems but none in the sense that my bills aren't paid. I hear my cousin's voice all the time, "if your bills are paid then you're not broke, you're secure."

Survival is such a MODE and when I say that I mean if we're not careful we can find ourselves in that mode for more than finances. I look at my negative five dollars in my bank account and all I see is a lost opportunity. I look again and all I see is my own failure. I begin to push the thought that I will never be in a place where I can have the things that I want instead of seeing the opportunity. After all, I like you am a member of the Free World.

Freedom starts in the mind.

I could access saving techniques from billionaires but if my mind isn't dedicated to my freedom then within a week those techniques would be no better than the two week old milk in my very clustered fridge. So what am I saying? Yes, the materialistic is fun, the casual drinks with friends is fun, but so is realizing that life isn't all about those things.

Freedom is about perspective.

Yes, there's negative five dollars in my bank account but time is free. Money can always be made but time, time unfortunately isn't coming back to us. Now, this is by no means a post to enable bad money decisions. I'm not here to tell you that you shouldn't save or shouldn't be responsible with your money. I'm telling you that what you think you lack shouldn't be your focus.

Life is happening all around. The very air that you breathe is important. There's a gift or gifts inside you that came with you the moment you began to form. That gift came at a price and your payment is giving it back to the rest of the world. You have EVERYTHING you need to get it out there right now. Take your eyes off of what you think is missing and see what you have.

There's a car in my garage that I never thought I would have. No it's not a Ferrari, but it's an accomplishment I never thought I could make. There's two degrees in my lock box, something I never thought I would do. I own my own business, a feat that I was told was foolish, yet here I am thinking about my money problems.

It's easy to lose sight of how far we've come, when the world pushes images of unattainable wealth. So I'm asking you this week to not measure your wealth by the amount in your bank or the likes on your photos, but stack yourself against your former self.

Remember when you begged God to be where you currently are? Remember when you cried for where you are right now? You have come further than you ever thought you could and it wasn't because of money. It was because on this path to your freedom, you made a conscious decision to get up and keep pushing forward.

Stop comparing, stop focusing on what you lack, stop beating yourself up...the world has done that enough to you.

Keep your head up, be encouraged, and know that you are loved. You are a member of the Free World: a world without shame, without fear, a world where being who YOU is expected. Be patient with yourself because everything is a process. Remember life is a marathon not a sprint. You'll make it through this week!
