Reset Then Focus
Hi Beautiful One,
Today has been a weird one and so has this month so far. Again this is that time of the year where resolutions and goals start to fade as momentum begins to slow. I have eaten crappy food for the last few days and my workouts have gone to the side. It's easy to get caught up in our failures but you have to remind yourself of your progress. Ah progress, the middle child of the Winning family. Just lost in the middle of it all without a clue as to how to be recognized.
Today I didn't want to follow the routine, I didn't want to recover from the madness. I just wanted to exist in the day and you know what? I did. I did absolutely nothing today and slept for most of the day and ate horribly. I binged watch and I didn't work out. And that's okay!
You know the thing about progress is that expectation kills it. We expect to be further along and we expect progress to have a snowball effect. Momentum is the same. We are super excited at the beginning of the year, so much enthusiasm is put towards our goals but we forget. We forget that we are human, we're always going to fall short.
Even machines need to rest. Isn't that crazy? The monuments of power and ingenuity need to be shut down from time to time to recharge. Our phones need power so we shut them off and place them on chargers. Our world mirrors our humanity and yet we strive towards the unimaginable thought that perfection is attainable. I'm sorry to say...it's not.
You WILL fail, you WILL fall, but the most important part is that you WILL survive the failure and the fall. This isn't because you're perfect but because you aren't. See imperfection gives us clarity. Imperfection shows up when momentum is present. Imperfection shows up when progress is being MADE. See the bad always shows up when you are doing well. Ying can't exist without Yang. Balance is the key to thriving.
So, it is Monday Motivation that you are here for right? Here is your challenge this week: REST. Take a day and just do nothing. You're not a robot, your mental health, emotional health, physical health, it all needs to recharge. Pick a day this week to RESET, then focus.
Keep your head up, be encouraged, and know that you are loved. You are a member of the Free World: a world without shame, without fear, a world where being who YOU are is expected. Be patient with yourself because everything is a process. Remember life is a marathon not a sprint. You'll make it through this week!
